First thing in the morning, which is about 10am for me; I pour black coffee and open Facebook. Most of my feed is weird facts, writing-related or uplifting stuff. Once in a while though, I’m gobsmacked by a shared news article that sets off my need to write an open letter to some dumb ass. THIS post is not that letter. HA!
After a much needed pause, (where I did ‘write it out- to get it out of my head’) I am drilling deeper into “What exactly is the take-away from the article whereby: the cop tazed and arrested a dude having a seizure.”
And ya know what?- Empathy. Some people have too much, and some people have way too little. That’s the take-away. My beliefs: Compassion can be taught, empathy cannot. And if you have an empathetic bent, stay away from the news altogether. Which sounds obvious, but sometimes its sneaky.
Quote of the day: “Know what you know, and know when you don’t.” ie. In the example of the cop. Yeah, he has skills. They weren’t suited for a situation that needed the paramedics.
